Cantieri in Movimento: Industrial Heritage Soundscapes

Little Berlin, in collaboration with the Italian cultural centre Zō Centro Culture Contemporanee, is looking for artists under 35 in the field of performance, music or visual arts (photography, video art).

The selected artist will participate in educational program, which includes residencies, the creation of a joint performative work and several educational activities.

The main output of the project will be the creation of a joint work that will respond to the cultural and historical context of the cultural centres involved. Three artists will collaborate on the creation of the work. Their joint work will be presented at the final residency in Italy.

The educational program of the project is focused on personal growth, gaining experience and supporting international cooperation between artists from European countries (Italy, Slovakia, Ukraine, Germany, France, Hungary and Serbia).

Duration of the program: April 2023 – July 2024.
Applications must be sent by April 12, 2023.

The selected artist will participate in three residencies:

15 – 19 JULY 2023 | Residency in Sicily
Presentation of individual project partners, workshop with the Ozmotic art project, creation of art groups.

APRIL – MAY 2024 | Week-long residency in the cultural centre Malý Berlin in Trnava
Getting to know the local cultural life and artistic community and co-creating a work of art.

JULY 2024 | Residency in Sicily
Mentoring with Australian-Icelandic musician, composer and sound designer Ben Frost + final, public performance of the works.

The language of the program is English.

The following materials must be uploaded to the form:

1. CV (pdf in english),
2. portrait photo,
3. Art project proposal (pdf in english)
   – description of the activity that the artist would like to implement within the project (describing the chosen place, motivation and goals of the participant, max 2000 characters).

The proposal must respond to the historical and cultural contexts of Trnava and the Malý Berlin cultural centre. The proposal may include elements of a sound work, live performances, video projections, photographic/illustrative materials, participatory activities. It can be inspired by research and restoration of historical, architectural, social, literary, musical, ethnographic, visual, folklore or other materials.

As part of the program, the artist will be provided with:

• accommodation, transport and food during residencies,
• a scholarship for an artist in the amount of EUR 1000 (for the entire project),
• costs for artistic creation in the amount of EUR 500 (for the artist).
