The Search for Utopia
Implementation period of project:
July 2024 — September 2024
This exhibition is a cultural exchange of art works that explore the concept of “Utopia”. Are we searching for something we lost, or something we have yet to discover?
The Search for Utopia explores the contemporary definition of ‘Utopia’ – is it a future to aspire towards, yet to be discovered, or a nostalgic quest for something lost? This art exhibition transcends borders, uniting the creative voices of Slovakian and American artists. Showcasing a diverse collection of dynamic works across various mediums, it offers viewers a profound insight into each artist’s unique perspective and cultural heritage. Featuring contributions from four Slovakian artists and four American artists, each piece acts as a catalyst for introspection, encouraging viewers to reconsider the concept of utopia in our increasingly interconnected and diverse world.
Curated by Tess Howsam and Soňa Jakubove, the exhibition reflects an international collaboration between arts and cultural institutions, Culture Lab LIC and Malý Berlín.
Featuring: Jeremy Dennis, Jeila Gueramian, Sophie Kahn, Ema Lančaričová, Eleen Lin, Jozef Pilat, Miro Trubač, and Natália Šimonová.
