Objective of the residency:

During her residency, she focused on researching contemporary Slovak literature. She concentrated on short stories. She got to know the Slovak culture and the Slovak literary context. She met authors and publishers for further cooperation. She worked on the translation of short stories from Dom pre jeleňa by Dominika Moravčíková.

What has the residency given you and why would you recommend it to others?

The residency gave me a unique opportunity to immerse myself in Slovak literature and culture, which has helped me a lot in my work as a translator. I can not only spend time translating, but also doing research, which has allowed me to better understand the context and nuances of Slovak texts. I got to know many authors, writers and publishers, which opened up possibilities for further collaboration. This experience allowed me to broaden my professional horizons and deepen my love for Slovak literature. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to better understand Slovak literature and make valuable contacts not only in the field of translation.
