Lina Degtyaryova is an architectural historian specialising in the architecture and art of 19th and 20th century Central and Eastern Europe. She is a doctoral candidate and lecturer at the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Cultural Studies of Uzhhorod National University. Her dissertation is on interwar urban processes and architectural history in Uzhhorod. She is a co-founder of the NGO and project Uzhhorod Modernism.

Objective of the residency:

The aim of the residency was to explore solutions to the housing crisis in the first Czechoslovak Republic, to analyse the traditions and policies of residential neighbourhood development in Uzhhorod, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and to compare them with the loss of housing infrastructure as a result of the war in Ukraine.
